Like any great cult musicians, the neo-psych trio Candy Claws called it quits shortly after releasing 2013’s Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time, their third album perfecting the bizarre dream-pop textures experimented with on prior outings which was quickly canonized by online music communities. While two of the band’s members have since gone on to tinker with that formula as the equally narrative-based Sound of Ceres, Deep Time remains the closing statement to a fascinating (albeit short) chapter in the blog-rock story.
But with that album celebrating its tenth anniversary later this month, the band has announced a reissue of the LP via its original label Twosyllable Records, which will include a previously unheard track called “Distortion Spear.” “If it had all just gone into the ether, and been forgotten about, then we might have some regrets,” the band’s Ryan Hover shared in a press statement. “But for some reason, there was just some spark on this one that people are still connecting with. It still feels like a really exciting thing to dive into.”
The reissue will arrives August 4 on double-gatefold vinyl which includes an instrumental version of the LP previously only available on cassette. You can pre-order it here.
