A few weeks back, Detroit off-kilter pop songwriter Zilched revealed plans for a new album called Earthly Delights with a lead single blessed by indie-filmmaker royalty Alex Ross Perry and a song title that caught our attention. Following that grainy ARP-directed footage that adds a particular mid-’90s alt-rock flavor to the track, Chloe Drallos is sharing another new video that takes things back to the 1970s as, according to Drallos, the “Loveless” visual was inspired by Giallo films and “disco TV performances.”

The self-directed clip may be gently awash in red lights familiar to that decade, but the song itself is strictly contemporary—an electronic drumbeat and ambient synth work lay the groundwork for Drallos’ bold vocals and an instrumental that occasionally borders on space-rock. Lyrically, though, the track is strictly grounded in concerns of Earthly romance. “The song is like a conversation between lovers,” Drallos explains. “Contemplating the purgatorial roller coaster that exists between freedom and unity.”

Check out the self-directed clip below, and find tickets for Zilched’s upcoming tour here.
