Wilco have announced a new album called Cousin, out on September 29 via the band’s own dBpm Records. To celebrate the follow-up to last year’s Cruel Country, the group has unveiled the lead single, “Evicted.” On the folk-rock cut, strummed acoustic guitars interact with a slick electric lick before frontperson Jeff Tweedy’s signature raspy vocals arrive. “Am I ever gonna see you again?” he asks. He concludes: “I’m evicted / From your heart / I deserve it.”

“I’m cousin to the world,” Tweedy said in a press statement regarding the album title. “I don’t feel like I’m a blood relation, but maybe I’m a cousin by marriage.” Produced by the Welsh artist Cate Le Bon, Cousin marks the first time Wilco have handed the reins over to a producer outside their immediate circle of collaborators since Sky Blue Sky.
