Uni Boys Rationalize Young Love on New Single “Two Years”

Just when it was beginning to feel like the ’70s were on their way out of fashion (again), LA duo The Lemon Twigs burst onto the music scene to reignite interest in the power-pop sounds of that decade for both listeners too young to have encountered much of the original era’s output as well as for those who lived through it. Now they’re holding open the door for a new wave of musicians devoted to the aesthetics of this time period, with the band’s Michael and Brian D'Addario even hopping on production duty for the latest record from fellow anachronistic Angelenos Uni Boys.

Buy This Now!, the power-pop collective’s fourth record since arriving on the scene in 2020, lands October 13 via Curation Records, and its latest single “Two Years” is yet another capsule of sticky-sweet vintage pop-rock hooks. Equally steeped in the ’70s is the track’s lyrical themes, which earnestly contemplate the wholesome mechanics of youthful romance. “‘Two Years’ depicts the trials and tribulations of young love,” the band confirms. “The lyrics describe what it’s like to go through the mental warfare that is choosing between logic and temporary satisfaction for the betterment of oneself.”
