The power-pop revival is in full swing thanks in no small part to prolific Portland-based songwriter Mo Troper, who—true to the genre’s tradition—has cranked out something like 70 new recordings since the beginning of the pandemic. He’s also served as producer on a number of records within this orbit, most recently Diners’ last album Domino and the newly announced debut set of songs from fellow Portlander Brenden Ramirez, who performs as Bory. Who’s a Good Boy lands December 8 via Earth Libraries imprint Earth Worms, with the lead single “We Both Won” debuting today.

While the track—reverently clocking in at just under the two-minute mark—coasts on jangling melodies and Bory’s soft vocals, Ramirez explains that the song masks some angst. “From a lyrical standpoint I think this is the pettiest I’ve ever gotten in a song,” he admits. “I wrote it while trying to be level-headed and understanding about something that happened, being like ‘It’s cool, I’m not even mad,’ but then after I wrote the song I was like, ‘Damn maybe I am mad.”
