Boston-based songwriter Tiffany Sammy is sharing one last single ahead of the release of her debut LP as TIFFY this Friday. The funk-laden dream-pop track “Lost in the Shuffle” lands ahead of So Serious, tapping into the record’s theme of social media malaise by honing in on the increasingly antiquated etiquette unique to email as a more formal complement to the dozens of other online channels on which we’re sending each other messages.
“The song is about email culture and its monotony, trying to reach someone or something but messages get ‘lost in the shuffle,’” TIFFY shares of the track, which takes an irreverently upbeat approach to the subject matter. “We’re all just doom scrolling or on the internet somewhere instead of getting back to people...which is via the internet.”
In addition to performing every instrument on the recording, Sammy also shot, edited, and starred in the music video, which sees her relishing the monotonous everyday chores that at least keep us offline for a bit. Check it out below, and pre-order So Serious here.
