“Inside of you there are two wolves,” goes the proverb-cum-meme. As Cincinnati-based psych-laden shoegaze band In the Pines depict it in their new visual for their heavily grooving single “Let It Slide,” those two wolves take the shape of a bumbling bear and a wise biker who may or may not be in the midst of a deep trip—one figure being dragged through existence, the other bending existence to fit their every whim.

“The irony is that we manufacture both characters in our head, and yet we find ourselves putting on that bear suit instead of getting on the bike,” the band shares of the comedic clip’s central metaphor. “We want to be that cool dude on the moped who has it all figured out and can just...be. But everyone ends up being the bear in one way or another.”

The video precedes In the Pines’ latest LP Painting by Numbers, which is steeped just as thoroughly in acid-soaked reverb as it is in metaphoric wisdom. Check out the clip—which was directed by Adriana Noritz and Michael Shular—below, and pre-order the album via their website here.
