There isn’t a whole lot we miss about the year 2020, but one highlight of the most indoors year of our lifetime that’s regrettably barely outlived quarantine is the constant reveal of massive covers compilations released exclusively on Bandcamp assembled to offer much-needed financial support to national and global causes.

It feels like a bit of a tasteful anachronism, then, that FADER Label announced this morning one such project titled FADER & Friends: Volume 1, a collection of 44 cover songs available on Bandcamp for one month only (November, the current month) with all proceeds benefiting trans rights organizations across the US (the Transgender Law Center), Canada (Rainbow Railroad), and the UK (Mermaids) as the absolute biggest dipshits on Earth continue to strip trans folks of the basic freedoms we like to pretend these nations were built upon.

There’s plenty to get excited about on the release (did I mention it consists of 44 entire songs?), from Wednesday taking on Elliott Smith, to Ratboys doing The Beatles, to Model/Actriz reminding us of The Ting Tings. Other artists featured on the comp include Rostam, Ezra Furman, NNAMDÏ, Lala Lala, Slow Pulp, Fire-Toolz (clearly a strong Chicago contingent here), DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ, Filth Is Eternal, Wild Pink, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Miss Grit, Pendant, Madeline Kenney, and, well, you can just see for yourself below (also worth shouting out the artwork by Joanna Sternberg, who also covers Caroline Rose here, who also covers Joanna Sternberg).

Find the full tracklist below, and purchase the digital album for (at least) $20 here.
