Adrianne Lenker, who you may know from a little band called Big Thief, has shared a new single and video entitled “Ruined.” On the track, Lenker croons over contemplative, subtly shifting synths and piano chords. “I wish I waved when I saw you / I just watched you passing by,” she sings, before concluding: “You come around, I’m ruined.”

The accompanying “Ruined” video was directed by Adrianne’s brother Noah Lenker, and collages footage of Adrianne embracing fall in all its beauty. Co-stars include the bright shining sun, easy-flowing rivers, and big ol’ trees. Of “Ruined,” Lenker said: “This song has been a quiet beacon for me. It may contain the essence of the gift of romantic love but it’s mostly about something much bigger.” In an Instagram post promoting the track, Lenker mentioned that it will be featured on a forthcoming album.

Along with this news, Lenker also unveiled a slew of 2024 UK and European tour dates. Additionally, in January, Lenker will teach an online songwriting workshop through School of Song. The course will be taught via live Zoom lectures across four consecutive Sundays, with two lecture sessions on each class day to accommodate different time zones (11 a.m. and 6 p.m. PT).
