After introducing his new album Zero Grace to audiences with the upbeat, lovelorn soul single “Dance with Me,” English songwriter Liam Bailey returns with a second, more somber sample of the new LP. “Disorder Starts at Home,” the reflectively downcast track he’s releasing today, matches the vintage feel of its predecessor while sorrowfully reminiscing on the songwriter’s turbulent childhood. “‘Disorder Starts at Home’ started life as a title,” Bailey shares of the track, before assuring us of its autobiographical nature. “The song’s about a chaotic—though short—period of my childhood when my mother and biological father’s relationship began to break down.”
Zero Grace was produced by Leon Michels and his El Michels Affair collective, who aided in blurring these tracks’ boundaries between soul, R&B, and reggae. Bailey originally proved his chemistry with his collaborator Michels on his 2020 album Ekundayo. Check out the new track below, and pre-order Zero Grace here.
