The Lonely Island Is Working on a Feature Film with Judd Apatow [UPDATED]

Fellow SNL alum Tim Meadows joins the cast of the newly-titled Conner4real

Well, it’s official, The Lonely Island is currently working on a brand-new film, and no, it’s not Hot Rod 2. The Saturday Night Live alums—Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone—have just started production on their second big screen outing with the help of Judd Apatow.

The film, which doesn’t have a name yet, follows the story of a big-time rapper who finds himself having to reconcile with his former boy band after he’s hit a major slump—silly song parodies abound, we’re sure. Also, the movie will be shot as a mockmentary (which is hot right now), with the guys having cited recent offerings like Katy Perry: Part of Me and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never as cinematic inspiration. Shudder.

Presumably, Samberg, Schaffer, and Taccone will all star in the film along with the one other confirmed cast member, Sarah Silverman. Both Schaffer and Taccone will share directing duties with Apatow.

While this seems to be in the very early stages still, the group found the time to make a very confident (and informative) preliminary film poster that you can check out below.
