2021’s Slash and Burn first introduced us to the clubby, leather-and-chains punk of Stockholm duo GHLOW, which fused together electronic drums with fierce electric guitar across the LP’s eight tracks. Today, the project returns with news of a follow-up record titled Levitate scheduled to drop on March 8 via PNKLSM. The project’s first single “Big City” picks up precisely where they left off, hinting at the LP treading similar nocturnal alleyways as its predecessor as Emille de Blanche’s vocals spar with Nikolay Evdokimov’s riffing guitar.
The track arrives with a noirish music video directed by Robin de Blanche that helps illustrate the sonic space GHLOW aims to inhabit through its sharp black-and-white imagery. “Filming the video for ‘Big City’ was the first time for us working with [de Blanche],” the band shares of the collaboration. “So we sat down and played him the song and from the start it was immediately clear that we wanted to keep it straightforward and direct. In keeping with the intensity of the song we pretty much set everything up and filmed the whole thing the same day.”
