After an 11-year silence, Portland-based dance-punks Gossip returned back in November with their first new music since 2012’s A Joyful Noise LP. “Crazy Again” marked the first single from the band’s newly announced sixth record Real Power, which was produced by none other than Rick Rubin.

Today they’ve shared the record’s title track and second single, which sees the band reclaiming their role as a vehicle for empowerment as vocalist Beth Ditto belts out lyrics inspired by the past few years in social justice demonstrations—particularly the Portland chapter of the Black Lives Matter movement. “[‘Real Power’] is about how awesome our city is and how it really showed up,” Ditto shared in a press statement. “The system was being rearranged and we were forcing people to reckon with it at a time when it could literally make you ill to gather, during a pandemic. That’s real power—people coming together, making those decisions to be in the streets.”

The track comes paired with a characteristically colorful music video, which sees the funky new-wave cut being performed live. Check it out below, and expect Real Power to arrive March 22.
