Himanshu “Heems” Suri has announced his return with a surprise new full-length project titled LAFANDAR. After a nearly decade-long hiatus from releasing solo material, the Das Racist co-founder reemerged late last year with his On the Radar freestyle, setting the stage for the new project. The album is set to arrive on February 16 via his own Veena Sounds label in partnership with Nas’s Mass Appeal India. The LP is a collaboration with Indian-American producer Lapgan, who released his History project as the inaugural body of work on Veena.

Composed of 12 tracks, LAFANDAR includes features from Kool Keith, Saul Williams, Open Mike Eagle, Sir Michael Rocks of The Cool Kids, Your Old Droog, Quelle Chris, Fatboi Sharif, Sid Sriram, and Abhi the Nomad. “Accent,” the project’s lead single, was developed from a verse that Heems wrote in the wake of George Floyd’s killing and from the Swet Shop Boys—Heems’ project with Riz Ahmed—single “T5.” In this updated version, Saul Williams hops on the track.
