Five years, one EP, and a series of singles and reworks after releasing her debut album Waves, French-born and LA-based songwriter Sofia Bolt is announcing her follow-up release with Vendredi Minuit scheduled to arrive May 10 via her new label home of Born Losers Records. With that first project—and the EPs that surrounded it—proving a grab-bag of guitar-centric singer-songwriter fare recalling everything from Belle and Sebastian to Stereolab, the first single from the new record leans more so into the latter influence as Bolt’s layered staccato vocals and grooving instrumental swirl together for a cool three minutes.

According to Bolt (real name Amélie Rousseaux), the track is “about letting go like a sail in the wind. And time heals all wounds.” To help illustrate this point, “Go Away” comes paired with a kaleidoscopic video that sees Bolt, well, pondering orb. Ponder the video below, and pre-order Vendredi Minuit—which notably features guest appearances from Stella Donnelly and Rodrigo Amarante—here.
