With the shoegaze revival in full swing, it’s only natural that the past year has seen the return of such influential figures within the scene’s original early-’90s peak as Drop Nineteens, Slowdive, and Ride, the latter two bands both having been reformed to release records back in 2017 after the rising tide of Britpop seemingly ushered them into early retirement in the mid-’90s. With Slowdive releasing their follow-up to that year’s self-titled record in 2023, Ride have followed their lead with their first record since 2019’s This Is Not a Safe Place, titled Interplay, arriving at the tail end of March.

Yet again following in Slowdive’s footsteps, Ride will be joining us all week with a new episode of FLOOD FM’s “Hacked” in which the Oxford quartet will deliver an eclectic mix of rock music ranging from Joni Mitchell and The Beach Boys to Depeche Mode and Tears For Fears all the way up to the present day, with tracks by Big Thief and Phoebe Bridgers in the mix. Tune in to FLOOD FM all week—February 12 through 16—at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. for the full episode.
