Inspired in equal parts by the tender indie rock of Death Cab for Cutie and the jagged post-punk of Shame, Cuffed Up have mastered this duality over the course of two EPs and a slew of singles—the latest of which will appear on their debut full-length titled All You Got. Before that collection is released in April, we’re getting another taste of the LP today with “Mock Dance,” a slow-burning takedown of internet troll behavior and a rational examination of where this phenomenon derives from.

“The internet has turned us into untrustworthy, mindless yet ruthless monsters,” guitarist/vocalist Ralph Torrefranca explains. “We basically ‘peacock’ and ‘perform’ our fake identities online because we’re too obsessed about how people ‘see’ us or what they think of us. Then we complete the transformation as we spew irrational and hateful ideas at each other online, cowardly hiding behind the keyboard at the end of the day.”

While this too-logged-on subject matter could easily make for a very boring visual accompaniment, Torrefranca instead directed a clip in which individuals do their best to bring their concepts of the titular dance to life. Check that out below, and pre-order All You Got before it arrives April 5 via Hit the North Records here.
