After introducing his forthcoming LP Terra Incognita with the cool psych-pop of “Meet Me in the Sky,” and following it up with the more in-your-face dance-punk riffage of “Only If You Say So,” Low Hum is returning today with another new single called “Hints” which sees Collin Desha take his foot off the gas a bit. The third sample from the album out May 24 via Last Gang Records is significantly more ambient, leaning into the post-rock influence of the project as minimal synths heave beneath Desha’s falsetto coos.

“This is an open letter/diary of shifting feelings that I was going through,” he shares of the track’s confessional lyrics. “The central idea being everything you need is here in front of you, as long as you can see it.” He goes on to imply that the solitary nature of the track’s recording may have influenced its deeply lonely feel: “The song was written up in the mountains, and you can hear the rain at the beginning of the song hitting the house.”

Before releasing the new record, Low Hum will set out on a string of North American dates in April alongside Meltt, followed by a handful of shows with Ra Ra Riot. Find the full listing of dates here, and check out a visualizer for “Hints” below.
