Drummer Amy Aileen Wood—who’s played with Blake Mills and St. Vincent, and who co-produced Fetch the Bolt Cutters—has unveiled a playful new single with Fiona Apple titled “Time for Everything.” The track will be featured on the percussionist’s forthcoming The Heartening, out April 29 via Colorfield Records. The two minute song is built around a looping drum groove and intoxicating UFO-like synth melodies that are occasionally interrupted by Apple on...the maybe-exasperated, maybe-delirious, maybe-pure-joy giggles?

Regarding the track, Wood says: “‘Time for Everything,’ one of the final tracks Pete [Min, engineer, label boss, and producer] and I worked on for the album, was pure fun. It was liberating, and felt a bit like crossing the finish line. We kept it light and tried not to overthink. And when Fiona’s infectious laughter came into play, it felt like the universe was nodding along.”
