God may have said “no,” but that Almighty Being sure as heck said “yes” to a new album from Omar Apollo. Arriving a little over two years after his debut, Ivory, Apollo is celebrating his forthcoming album God Said No (out June 28 via Warner) with the project’s first single “Dispose of Me.”
Omar Apollo may have said “dispose of me,” but no way are we “disposing of” this song. The laidback—some might even say “chill”—pop song features the singer’s classically outstanding voice against lilting drums and harmonies that hit you right in the gut. “You’re making me feel insecure about things / I ain’t thought about in years,” he sings.
Apollo created the album at Abbey Road Studios (made famous by a band called The Beatles, ever heard of them?) with producers Teo Halm, Carter Lang, and Blake Slatkin. Check out the live video for “Dispose of Me” below, and pre-order God Said No here.
