Today, pranksters/music fest hosts Riot Fest announced their 2024 lineup, with the event set to take place the weekend of September 20. As always, the event will feature a mix of iconic punk bands and festival staples—this year, the former category is defined by Fall Out Boy, The Offspring, and three nights of NOFX, along with a tent of NOFX-sanctioned artists including Descendents, Circle Jerks, The Lawrence Arms, Buzzcocks, Dillinger Four, and Laura Jane Grace with Catbite (together playing an Operation Ivy–only set). The latter category sees Public Enemy, St. Vincent, Beck, Pavement, and Bright Eyes prominently billed.

Also notable is the fact that the event is continuing its move south after stints in Humboldt Park and, more recently, Douglass Park—neither of which particularly welcomed the event. This year, it will take place in Bridgeview, southwest of the city limits, at SeatGeek Stadium (which will become “Riotland” over the weekend—if the Cubs’ World Series win in 2016 was any indication, this just means that there’ll be people honking and shouting “Let’s go!” all night). Seems like a solution to the intrusiveness of previous locations, though it also appears that now the brunt of that intrusion will be taken by Chicago’s women’s soccer team (who, by the way, just set a league attendance record at their debut at Wrigley Field last weekend, if there was any concern about attendance numbers; I was at that game, it rocked).
