There’s no better way to celebrate a Friday than with a brand-new trailer prominently featuring the one and only Bill Murray. This morning, the first trailer for Rock the Kasbah dropped, and it’s two minutes of what Mr. Murray does best: playing a dude who’s kind of a jerk, but in the most lovable and charming way.
The film, which was written by Mitch Glazer (The Recruit, A Very Murray Christmas) and directed by Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Wag the Dog), is about Richie Lanz (Murray), a struggling has-been tour manager who makes a last-ditch attempt at a few bucks by flying his sole client (Zooey Deschanel) to Afghanistan, only to find that she’s run off with his wallet and his passport. (And, for some reason, he finds this out from a super casual Bruce Willis? Who is casually holding a machine gun?) In his scramble to get home, Levinson stumbles upon a young girl in the trunk of his cab (Leem Lubany). Her one wish is to be on Afghan Star, and just when Levinson thought he was out of the artist-management game, they pull him back in.
Kate Hudson, Scott Caan, and Danny McBride round out the star-studded cast.
Rock the Kasbah hits theaters on October 23.
