Over the weekend, the DIY label Gardenhead Records revealed the full lineup for their upcoming benefit compilation, Free Palestine. The release will feature tracks by 27 artists, including just-announced contributions from A. Savage, HOMESHAKE, Cindy Lee, Maria BC, Gaadge, and Julie Doiron. Proceeds will benefit the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, a humanitarian organization that provides free medical care to children in the Middle East.
“The Palestinian people have endured a decades long occupation, apartheid regime, and brutal ethnic cleansing campaign perpetuated by the state of Israel with full support from the United States,” said Etai Fuchs and Gabrielle Franks of the DC-based label in a press statement. “As musicians, we want to use our platforms to advocate for Palestinian liberation. Solidarity to the Palestinians and all people protesting and advocating for a free Palestine.”
Free Palestine will be Gardenhead’s fifth benefit compilation since the label’s founding in 2020. Past releases have brought together musicians (on similarly stacked lineups) to raise money for pandemic artist relief, climate change action, and worker strike funds. The compilation will be available exclusively on Bandcamp as a name-your-price release on June 28.
