Brontez Purnell is one of my favorite authors on the planet, thanks solely to his 2021 book 100 Boyfriends (I’m about to start 10 Bridges I’ve Burnt, I promise!). Considering his brilliance with the pen, I was intrigued by his new track with the Brontez Purnell Trio, “Forgive Me Philip,” and the verdict is in: What can’t this dude do! Folks, we’ve got a banger on our hands.

The lo-fi rock cut sounds a bit like early-2000s British indie rock with strands of The Vaselines and San Francisco DIY punk thrown in there for good measure. It’s a killer A-side to the trio’s forthcoming 7-inch arriving July 23 via House of Feelings.

Check out the track below, and find more of Purnell’s music here.
