Growing from a solo project for vocalist Dylan Chenfeld in the late 2010s into a full-on indie rock band both carrying the torch for and collaborating with the likes of Vampire Weekend, MUNA, and Phoenix, NYC’s Rebounder are gearing up to release their second EP, Sunset Songs, later this year after the project was delayed last summer after we last caught up with them. Having just release the EP cut “Sunset Vision” in tandem with their performances of it on a West Coast tour, the group recently returned home inspired to rework the song for a creative “Neighborhoods” session.
“[Performing the track has] been feeling great live, and we wanted to try our hand at doing it acoustic and showing it in a new way,” shares Chenfeld of the video they shot on a Manhattan tour bus, in which the track is reinterpreted as an acoustic number. “Coming back to New York in the summertime, we knew we wanted to play it outside where the sun was shining, not in a windowless apartment. Noah had an idea to do it on a tourist bus. We emailed and asked, [but] by the time they said no, we’d already shot it. We had to film most of the takes on the West Side Highway—that way the bus wouldn’t stop so they couldn’t kick us out. We stayed on the bus all the way back Downtown.”
