Jeremie Albino has inked a deal with Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound for his forthcoming LP Our Time in the Sun. To celebrate the news, Albino has released his ode to the West Coast’s most notorious freeway on “Rolling Down the 405” (big week for songs about highways). While the folk-rock track cruises along with organ swells and piano vamps, I’ve never known anyone to do anything remotely close to rolling on the 405. It’s a pavement hellhole, a place where dreams go to die. “Rolling,” however, is decidedly not a hellhole (though the song is fiery).
Albino has no problem spending more time than required with his boss, as Dan Auerbach has also produced the project. Regarding the album, Albino shared: “I feel like I learned so much about myself and what I’m capable of. This record is the most myself I think I’ve ever sounded. I’m more comfortable in my own skin now than ever before.”
