Last month, Chris Baio gave us a preview of his upcoming debut solo album (as BaioThe Names with the opening track “Brainwash yyrr Face.” Today, the Vampire Weekend bassist shared “Sister of Pearl”—an upbeat, piano-laden pop track with slurred vocals and flamenco-tinged guitar.

About the new track Baio said, “With ‘Sister of Pearl’ I wanted to write a Bowie & Ferry-referencing throwback pop song with a simple, straight-forward lyrical message: be who you want to be.”

Baio’s self-produced The Names comes out September 18 on Glassnote.
