Everyone knows that I love donuts. I love glazed, I love sprinkles, I love twists, I love bear claws—I love them all. Everyone also knows that I love De La Soul. Everyone also also knows that I love New York. Go Mets. As such, the group’s new donut pop-up, “Oodles of O’s,” is right up my alley.
The event is taking place for one day only at Cafe Joah in the East Village tomorrow, July 26, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time. It will feature four flavors from Dough Donuts, each inspired by the group’s legacy. Man, if you can get a donut inspired by your career you’ve really done something special. Here are the flavors:
- The Twizzness: A strawberry glazed donut topped with strawberry licorice candy
- The Dove: A yogurt glazed donut with pastry cream filling, honoring David Jolicoeur
- The Bear Cinnamon: A cinnamon bun donut with almond paste and cinnamon filling, topped with vanilla glaze and crushed almonds
- The O: A classic glazed donut flavored with pure vanilla extract and a touch of salt
