After helping to define the chillwave sound at the beginning of the 2010s, Scott Hansen is still going strong with his Tycho project. This week—a month shy of the 20th anniversary of his debut album Sunrise Projector—the musician will release his eighth collection of ambient-pop with Infinite Health, which both builds upon the downtempo sound he’s been crafting over the past two decades and calls back to the trance-y electronic music he consumed while coming of age in the 1990s.
Ahead of the album’s release this Friday via Mom + Pop and Ninja Tune, Hansen recorded a new episode for FLOOD FM’s “Hacked” series, wherein he elucidates on some of those ’90s (and ’00s) electronic sounds that inspired him: Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, DJ Shadow, and Caribou all make appearances, along with some less expected cuts. You can hear the episode when it airs every day this week (August 26 – 30) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. PST only on FLOOD FM.
