Last summer, Atlanta group Clot introduced their blend of blackened grindcore and chaotic sludge metal with their debut album Grief Tethers, bringing the experimentalism of Full of Hell to mind (and, occasionally, the vocals of Converge’s Jacob Bannon) while predicting the sped-up doom-punk of the since-release Thou LP Umbilical. Yet they’re far from done with their experimenting, as they reveal today with the announcement of a new EP that’s set to arrive this fall. Dehiscence is scheduled for an October 18 release, with the sub-two-minute “Fucking Rot” serving as a beacon of what’s to come.

Like Thou, Clot are picking up the pace on the new single, perhaps more accurately invoking the relentlessly dread-inducing brutality of a band like Portrayal of Guilt. “‘Fucking Rot’ lives within the realm established with Grief Tethers while also encapsulating the tone of Dehiscence,” the band promises. “It’s the shortest track on the EP and teases the growth of what’s to come. It feels like a bridge, a transition from the old to the new. We're not slowing down.”
