Toronto’s Accelerant recently introduced themselves to the rest of the world with the lead single from their forthcoming debut album, with “Sleeper” landing somewhere between the industrial force that is A Place to Bury Strangers and the gothy pop of The Cure’s ’80s output. With Accelerant primed to arrive in less than a month, we’re getting another sample of the new material today with the equally noisy “Bring Down the Club”—a track that opts for the dancier electronic percussion of APTBS’s newer material while swapping the influence of Robert Smith for that of The Fall’s Martin Bramah on the jittery post-punk riffs that soundtrack the vocals’ manic repetition of the song’s title.

“‘Bringing Down the Club’ was about bringing rave kids to the punk clubs—at least that’s how it felt to me,” shares the band’s vocalist Nathan Patrick. “At the time, I was experimenting with drum machines to create backing tracks, which gave everything a more danceable vibe. I’d love to explore that direction more in the future. We usually close our shows with this track. It often ends with Evan and me tackling each other, a guitar getting thrown, pads get played with hands or foreheads. It’s fun to leave the stage in shambles, the track lends to a bit of chaos.”

Accelerant will arrive both digitally and on vinyl on October 1 via Cooked Raw. In the meantime, check out the new track below.
