Sharon Van Etten, “Mistress America,” and More to Play at Sundance’s NEXT FEST
The summer celebration of film and music takes place August 7–9 in Los Angeles.
Later this summer, up-and-coming filmmakers, actors, and musicians will gather at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles for the Sundance NEXT FEST—a three-day event that “celebrates the renegade spirit of independent artists.”
The festival will host screenings of several indie films including Mistress America (directed by Noah Baumbach), Entertainment (directed by Rick Alverson), Turbo Kid (co-directed by François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell), and more. The event will have a special kick-off event on August 2 (a week earlier) with an exclusive screening of the Kevin Bacon-starring Cop Car at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in conjunction with Cinespia.
In addition to the film premieres and screenings, NEXT FEST events will feature live performances by musicians Sky Ferreira, Sharon Van Etten, and an ’80s-inspired DJ battle between electro-pop auteurs Toro y Moi and Neon Indian.
NEXT FEST will take over the Theater at the Ace Hotel on August 7–9. Tickets will be available starting tomorrow on the Sundance Institute’s website, and can be bought now on presale for SI members. Grab them soon to be part of the cultural conversation.
