The good folks in Franz Ferdinand are back to reveal details of their sixth album, The Human Fear—and I don’t know about you, but there are plenty of humans I sure am afraid of! [Insert Presidential debate joke here]. The first single from the new LP—out January 10 via Domino—is the buzzing “Audacious,” which nervously bounces around with fuzzy guitars, dancing drums, and a smooth, controlled delivery from vocalist Alex Kapranos. The chorus, which is positively Sgt. Peppers–esque, speaks to the track’s philosophy: “But don’t stop feeling audacious, there’s no one to save us / So just carry on.”

Regarding the single, Kapranos said: “It’s about having an audacious response when you feel the fabric of existence come undone around you. Being bold, contrary. Peering over the edge into the eternity of non-existence and saying, ‘Aye! Fuck it! Not today, thank you!’”
