Early James has announced that he’s emerged from the proverbial kitchen with a new Dan Auerbach–produced album, Medium Raw. The Alabama-born songwriter has put on his metaphorical chef’s hat and done some other things that help draw this culinary metaphor out even further on first single “Steely Knives.”
The first track is some good ol’ home cooking (sorry) built around a bunch of guitar lines that bump into and jump around each other as the drums shuffle and James yells at the top of his lungs. If my yelling voice sounded as good as James’, I’d be whooping and hollering, too.
