It’s been a crazy year for Móglaí Bap, Mo Chara, and DJ Próvaí, the members of breakout Irish rap trio Kneecap. Back in March, we were crushed when they cancelled their shows in Austin during SXSW (including, indirectly, our own FLOODfest shindig), but we get it—SXSW taking sponsorship funds from the US Army and weapons providers Raytheon amidst the horrific situation in Gaza is no bueno.
It’s been non-stop for the trio since then, riding high off the release of their acclaimed biopic co-starring Michael Fassbender and debut album, Fine Art. We caught up with the band back in June for an in-depth look into the Kneecap story, and this week FLOOD photographer Dutch Doscher documented the band’s biggest US show to date at New York’s 3,200-capacity Knockdown Center in Queens.
Amidst “Free Palestine” chants and the band repeatedly asking the venue to bring the lights lower, the low-lit atmosphere brought a dark and moody vibe to his coverage, not unlike much of the band’s music. Check out highlights below.
