zzzahara has announced today that they’ll be 10 days shy of the turkey-like accomplishment of releasing three albums in three consecutive years. Another way of putting that would be that the LA-based songwriter’s third album in three years will arrive on January 10 (technically still within the span of three years—we’ll allow it). As heard in the development between the scuzzy pop-rock of 2022’s Liminal Spaces and the dreamier sound of 2023’s Tender, Spiral Your Way Out will see continued growth from the artist with the assistance of an A-list team of collaborators—including producer Jorge Elbrecht, guitarist Alex Craig, and Halsey’s touring drummer Franco Reid.
Meanwhile, GRAMMY-winning producer (and illuminati hotties mastermind) Sarah Tudzin produced the album’s lead single, “Ghosts,” which takes a more refined indie-pop approach to zzzahara’s past work, as their vocals sound like they might fit alongside the trio singing on the record that earned Tudzin her award. "I was going through a difficult period of my life,” zzzahara recalls. “Before meeting up with Sarah [Tudzin] at Domino Studios, I pulled up to a gas station, bought some cigs and a six pack. I chugged some beers on the street and smoked a couple cigs. I wasn’t OK. I kept having panic attacks, so this was the only way I could cope. Sarah was very welcoming and had this big smile. My tensions eased. She had the drums going. We cranked out this song so quick. The lyrics were boiling inside me. I just had to spill."
