Before releasing their sophomore record Full Speed Anywhere Else this Friday, Norwegian quartet Onsloow are sharing one last pre-album single from the project, with “Body Parts” serving as the perfect introduction to the band’s latest chapter. While tapping into the same vein of contemporary heart-on-sleeve indie rock and sprawling Midwest emo Great Grandpa explored on Four of Arrows (I think you could say Trondheim is located in Norway’s Midwest, though the country is fairly vertical), the track also gets to the album’s optimistic heart of new beginnings.
“We tried to capture the experience of slowly piecing yourself back together both physically and emotionally, and rediscovering who you are after life has torn parts of you away,” shares the band’s drummer Morten Samdal. “It’s a song about healing! In many ways, Full Speed Anywhere Else is a breakup album, rediscovering phases through different lenses and perspectives. Not exclusively though; we also address more existential themes, dwell on the costs of friendship, etc. But a bunch of the tracks are about love, and ‘Body Parts’ is one of them!”
The track arrives with a lyric video setting its new-beginnings messaging and upbeat guitar noodling to a collage of old home movies. Check it out below, and pre-order Full Speed Anywhere Else ahead of its release on October 25 via Tiny Engines here.
