Earlier this month, we had the privilege of debuting a new single from alt-folk songwriter Emma Hardyman’s new LP with her band Little Moon, Dear Divine, with “messy love” pairing lush instrumentation with the vocalist’s impressive vocal range. Before the record arrives this Friday, we’re technically getting another song premiere today in the form of a live video for one of the record’s yet-unreleased tracks. “In ‘bashful lovers,’ I’m letting myself lean into the beauty of young love, even with all my shyness and nervousness,” shares Hardyman, introducing the track. “It’s a glimpse into my younger self, struggling to accept being so bashful while still craving romance. The song reminds me that love can sparkle and grow even in the quietest, most timid hearts, and that just being sincere in who I am is enough to deserve love, I think.”
While we won’t get to hear the studio version of the track for a few days, Hardyman gave an acoustic performance of “bashful lovers” in her hometown of Provo, Utah for “Neighborhoods,” tucked away in a wooded area. “We filmed this performance in the stunning Utah mountains, which are close to my home,” she explains. “Autumn is my favorite season, and there's something about October here that makes everything feel more alive—like the landscape is waking up just as the leaves start to change. It feels like the perfect backdrop for this song, with all its quiet beauty and warmth.”
