It was only a matter of time before the electronically inclined Jersey City artist Ehiorobo found his musical match in Brooklyn-based producer artist Icarus Moth (there’s a joke about a moth to a flame in there somewhere), whose work matches his new collaborator’s penchant for pairing his vocals with skittering instrumentals. The result of the pair’s meeting, Mutamelior, will arrive on November 13 via EveryDejaVu, with “Piggy Bank” serving as the first taste of the four-song collection. Arriving on the heels of last September’s one-off collaboration with LA composer Omniboi, the new single hints at something smoother with Ehiorobo leaning into his alt-R&B influences.

“The track is essentially about feeling as if the timing is never quite right with people of interest,” the duo shares of the single, “and there’s never enough resources that meet what your needs require—although, it’s all presented within the cutesy analogy of shaking an empty piggy bank.”
