Despite modest streaming numbers, no radio hits, and limited media exposure, the King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard phenomenon keeps on building. The shapeshifting Australian rockers are currently in the midst of an extensive US arena and amphitheater tour, and brought their three-hour marathon set to the famed Kia Forum in Los Angeles on Friday. It doesn't need to be Halloween for Gizz heads to sport costumes at their shows, so with this show landing the day after the holiday, decked-out fans were everywhere.
DJ Crenshaw and King Stingray opened the show, with King Gizzard hitting the stage at around 9:00 P.M. and rocking non-stop until midnight.
“We’re about to rock very hard,” said guitarist Joey Walker to kick off the set. "So don’t pace yourself. Just go 100% from the start, ‘cause we’ll always be above the energy you give."
