Death and taxes, intolerably long election cycles, and Lana Del Rey in the stu’, forever cooking. What are: things that are inevitable? The singer took to Instagram yesterday to share news of a new album titled The Right Person Will Stay. “Out may 21 so grateful that my 13 tracks came together with my beautiful work between Luke, Jack, Zach and Drew Erickson amongst others,” wrote the songwriter, who may or may not go full country on an album that certainly won’t be called “Lasso.”

With news of the album out in the world, we here at FLOOD HQ thought it would be useful to outline some of the information we know about the new album, outside of it being made with the aforementioned team of Jack Antonoff, Drew Erickson, Luke Laird, and Zach Dawes.

Is this Lana’s country album?
Lana has been teasing a country project called since February. The concept for “Lasso” was introduced at a Billboard event, where she said that the project would be arriving in September (it didn’t). “If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country. We’re going country. It’s happening,” Del Rey said, according to the outlet that hosted the event. “That’s why Jack [Antonoff] has followed me to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi, over the last four years.” Will The Right Person Will Stay be her country album, renamed from “Lasso”? Maybe!

Is Luke Laird the secret weapon?
Lana has long worked with Antonoff, and while the Bleachers vet will be helping out with this new project, she’s also brought Luke Laird into the fold, who may help decode what the album sounds like. He’s written over 20 #1 Billboard singles, including songs for Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, and Eric Church. I don’t know much, but I do know that all of those artists are country superstars. Intriguing.

Stagecoach performance
The album is set to arrive on May 21, but fans won’t have to wait that long to hear new music. As Lana revealed in her post, “Henry” will be the first single, and though it has yet to be released, we know it will likely arrive before her Stagecoach performance on Friday, April 25. She’ll be headlining night one alongside Zach Bryan and Brothers Osborne.

New tour dates
Buried beneath the album news was the announcement of a small tour set for the UK and Ireland. She’ll perform at massive football stadiums, including Glasgow’s Hampden Park, Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, London’s Wembley Stadium, and Liverpool’s Anfield. These gigs are set for June and July, so the setlists will surely be full of tracks from The Right Person Will Stay.
