If you heard either of the singles released by clipping. last year, you may have noticed that horrorcore was just a phase for the experimental rap group. Today, with the arrival of yet another electro-industrial tune invoking ’90s cyberthrillers, Daveed Diggs, William Hutson, and Jonathan Snipes are announcing that their next chapter will formally begin on March 14 with the arrival of their Dead Channel Sky LP. Featuring a characteristically eclectic guest list headlined by Aesop Rock and Wilco’s Nels Cline (in addition to actress/rapper and Tia Nomore, Canadian rap duo Cartel Madras, and LA computer music collective Bitpanic), the project sees the trio leaving behind the sonic and lyrical themes familiar to horror films explored on their previous two records.

Following a release-day show at LA’s Echoplex, clipping. will hit the road for a series of dates supporting the new material spanning the Western US, broken up by an appearance at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee at the end of March. Check out the new single “Change the Channel” below, and find the full list of dates here. You can also pre-order Dead Channel Sky here via Sub Pop.
