Samia has announced that her third LP, Bloodless—the follow-up to 2023’s fearless Honey—is set to arrive on April 25 via Grand Jury Music. As is often the case with album announcements, we’ve also been graced with a new single. This track, “Bovine Excision,” comes with a viscerally intense title and a campfire-like first verse. Eventually, buzzing electric guitars and slapping drums give the song some oomph as Samia sings: “I wanna be impossible.”
”I was drawn to the phenomenon of bloodless cattle mutilation as a metaphor for self-extraction—this clinical pursuit of emptiness,” Samia explained regarding “Bovine Excision” and, presumably, the album it lands within. Samesies, Samia.
