I can’t speak for your grandparents, but 2025 is shaping up to be a big year for Your Grandparents. Coming off 2021’s self-released Thru My Window LP, the hip-hop and nu-R&B trio comprised of vocalists DaCosta and Jean Carter and producer Cole Thompson are announcing their signing to drink sum wtr, the recently forged Brooklyn indie label that’s already given us memorable releases from Kari Faux, Aja Monet, Gareth Donkin, and Deem Spencer, not to mention a forthcoming LP from THEY.
With no imminent news of a broader release, the trio is sharing a new single called “The Dial” alongside the announcement, a much-needed breath of fresh air in a new year that’s already been a doozy for many of us. “Things will work out when they’re supposed to,” DaCosta explains of the song’s message—which may or may not correspond with the new deal they’ve inked after over a decade creating music together. “The best way to get the most out of hard situations is to keep your head down and work with integrity.”
Check out the new track below, and expect more from Your Grandparents later in 2025.
