This past Friday saw the release of Sharon Van Etten’s official debut album as a band leader rather than as an individual songwriter, with Sharon Van Etten & the Attachment Theory paving new and jammier territory for the artist some 20 years into her music career. In our new digital cover story with Van Etten, she shares how she and her band were inspired by post-punk and new wave music for this set of songs as much as they were the natural chemistry they’d developed among each other over the years.
With that set of influences in mind, it’s no surprise to hear that Van Etten’s radio takeover for FLOOD FM’s “Hacked” series features names like Pylon and ESG (both of whom she shouts out in our interview), alongside more recent cuts by Panda Bear, Royel Otis, and Georgia Gets By (not to mention new chapters from longtime icons: including Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ Challengers score and the recent collaboration led by Lol Tolhurst and Budgie). Catch the episode every day this week (February 10 – 14) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. only on FLOOD FM. You can also check out our cover story with Van Etten here.
