As one might expect from an album titled Mourning You, Ontario’s Bonnie Trash have dedicated their second LP to the experience of processing loss in their lives, as twins Emmalia and Sarafina Bortolon-Vettor dive deep into existential matters across the release’s nine songs. Fittingly, the duo also pivot from gothic post-punk to a more metal-centric aesthetic both in the record’s packaging and in its sound, with its latest cut “Haunt Me (What Have You Become)” specifically recalling the entrancing combination of massive riffs and smoky, bewitching vocals that define King Woman.

Lyrically, the song hones in on questions of the afterlife, distilling grief and misery into an internal monologue about whether—and, if so, where—we’ll meet our deceased loved ones again. "’Haunt Me (What Have You Become)’ is a conversation with oneself on how we change when we experience the loss of life, yet it also questions the life after the death of a loved one,” the band shared. “Where is my love? When will I see them again? How will I see them again? Confronting sorrow and heartache is difficult, yet it can also ignite beautiful memories, longing for one more day to be with them again.”

The track serves as the final single ahead of Mourning You’s release on February 28 via Hand Drawn Dracula—check out the lyric video below, and pre-order the album here.
