Let’s get this out of the way now: Yes, this is the same Creed Bratton who publishes www.creedthoughts.gov.www\creedthoughts, as well as the one—for the real heads—who once upon a time played with the folk ensemble The Grass Roots. There’s a little bit of both of these personas that go into his current songwriting work under his own name, with his recent LP Tao Pop exploring all types of past and present psychedelic textures and philosophical subjects, all with a sense of humor we’ve come to know him for over the past 20 years.

Having released Tao Pop back in September, today Bratton is sharing a music video for one of the record’s singles, “Tall Grass,” which translates its elegant structure and surreal tones into a visual language: namely the inside of Bratton’s colorful mind, as rendered by animator Matt Siegel. “I think it’s kind of like the Traveling Floyds,” Bratton expounds on the single that shaped the filmmakers’ vision. “Pink Floyd, a little bit Traveling Wilburys, a little bit Tom Petty. Tom Floyd.”
