LISTEN: DRINKS Drops Jangly New Single, “Laying Down Rock”

Hermits on Holiday is out next month via Birth Records

There’s no better way to start your week than with the bright sound and hypnotic beat of DRINKS‘ brand-new track, “Laying Down Rock.” After releasing the strange and falsetto-filled title track from its upcoming full-length Hermits on Holiday in May, it was hard to know what else to expect from the duo’s (White Fence and Cate Le Bon) blossoming musical collaboration.

“Laying Down Rock”—Hermits on Holiday‘s opening track—features White Fence’s Tim Presley on lead vocals (and lyrics that include MapQuest for some reason?), all atop a simple and mesmerizing guitar riff. It’s not hard to hear, or appreciate, the whimsical influence that The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society had on the track.

The quirky indie duo also announced upcoming tour dates in support of Hermits on Holiday, which is slated for an August 21 release via Presley’s Birth Records. Check out all of DRINKS’ live dates below.
