After over 30 years of shaping the punk to come, Sweden’s Refused are officially calling it quits this year after one final tour celebrating the five albums they released between 1994 and 2019. The string of shows kicks off this Thursday in DC and sees the band winding through the US and Canada up until the tour closes on April 8 in Portland, Oregon.
Fortunately for us, Refused will live on through future generations of punk and hardcore, with the band’s Dennis Lyxzén singling out some favorites among the current crop of heavy music on his takeover of FLOOD FM’s “Hacked” this week. Scowl, Chat Pile, Candy, Gel, and High Vis all appear alongside more experimental guitar-centric projects, such as Tropical Fuck Storm and Mdou Moctar. They even include a track by a contemporary folk songwriter who pairs herself with a punk icon. Check out the full episode every day this week (March 17 – 21) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. PT only on FLOOD FM. You can also find all of the band’s upcoming tour dates here.
