For those who keep track of such things, add Thundercat‘s “Them Changes” to the list of contenders for Song of the Summer. The LA jazz-funk bassist—who in the last eight months alone appears on records by Flying Lotus, Kendrick Lamar, and Kamasi Washington—dropped “Them Changes” ahead of his six-song mini-LP The Beyond/Where Giants Roam a few weeks ago. Now, the cut has its own video, which takes the song’s opening lyric about there being blood on the floor quite literally. Like the song, the “Them Changes” video alternates seamlessly between surreal comedy and high drama, ultimately blending the two in its final moments. Watch “Them Changes” below, then fire up your ticket broker of choice to catch Thundercat on the road this fall.
